Dawson Street @ 9:30PM
Last of Chinese Dinner
Star Date 08272008
It is hard to fathom how much empty space there is in the Yukon. Dawson City is about 340 miles from Whitehorse. And is an 8 hour trip. We have seen an eagle, and lots of river, scrub trees and clouds.
Last night was The Frantic Follies, with 2 dramatizations of Robert W. Service poems. Riding on a bus for eight hours makes the driver and guide think they have to keep us entertained. Okay.

The Yukon
Dawson City is very close to the Artic Circle... like as close as Springfield is to St. Louis...okay, maybe a little further, but we are very far north. In fact, I saw Santqa again yesterday. Yes, the same Santa that was on the cruise ship, which makes sense, that Santa would take a vacation before things get really busy.
Dawson City is where the Stampeders headed in 1998. It is still beyond comprehension what those men and women did because of the possibility of gold. Because of the difficulty and length of the trip, those that came in 1898 were not the ones to find the gold...all of the claims had already been staked. Yestderday we were out to the Discovery Claim on the Bonanza Creek. Soon, we will get on the boat to go down the river to Eagle. Look for the picture soon of Dad singing with Diamond Tooth Gertie.
